The head of the social network explained why the service will block some of the messages.
According to the head of the microblogging service Twitter Costolo Dick (Dick Costolo), selective blocking of user input is not a precursor to censorship and does not violate the freedoms of citizens.
As has been previously reported, the new system of content filtering allows you to quickly and effectively hide the messages violate the law. Costolo, in turn, said that the filter will work, given the interests of all parties. Thus, the illegal user message from China, will be blocked at the request of the authorities, but for users of all other countries, it remains affordable.
The implementation of this technology is designed to promote the service in those countries where “there is some stipulated by law, the rules of self-expression.” However, the service manager also said the company does not intend to conquer the markets of those countries where their service is totally prohibited.
“Things in China does not allow us to hope for the introduction of service in this country,” – said Costolo. Besides China, the ban on the use of Twitter is there in Iran.
