Experts say that an attack by malicious users have become more powerful and less prolonged.
According to the report of experts from the company Prolexic, which specializes in anti- DDoS-attacks, in the first three months of 2012 the financial services industry has become to attackers three times more frequently than in the fourth quarter of last year.
The report also notes that the average power crossing hackers have grown up to 6.1 Gbps (in the fourth quarter of 2011, 5.2 Gb). At the same time, the average duration of DDoS-attacks dropped to 28.5 hours to 34 hours of the end of last year.
“Reducing the duration of the attack combined with junk traffic growth suggests that during the campaign of malicious DDoS-specific objectives,” – experts explain.
In Prolexic also reported that the main source of DDoS-attacks is China, which generated about 70% of all attacks, distributed denial of service. The first and second place in terms of outbound traffic took a garbage service providers China Telecom and China Unicom.
