As reported in his blog, Helfurt German researcher Martin (Martin Herfurt), was able to crack the Samsung TV with function SmartTV.

The expert noted that a successful cyber attack carried out from a remote computer to broadcast programs on technology HbbTV (Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV), used in Samsung TVs.

After he managed to hack the system to replace the broadcast, and get the ability to create fake subtitles and even generate a currency for peer to peer payment system Bitcoin, as well as perform other unauthorized actions.

According to the hacker, the hack managed to carry as TVs use the built-in browser WebKit version 1.1 and JavaScript, which is present in a number of unresolved vulnerabilities. What’s more, Samsung does not use their TVs encryption SSL, which greatly simplifies the task of hackers and allow them to replace the content directly into the broadcast.
