In the fourth quarter of 2011, the number of threats aimed at corporate users, has increased by 205% compared with 2010.
Representatives from Cisco presented a report on threats to cyberspace for the fourth quarter of 2011. The report, prepared by a team of Cisco Intrusion Prevention System, contains information on cyber threats in the period from October 1 to December 31 last year. According to data provided in the fourth quarter of 2011, corporate Internet users on average experienced from 339 malicious programs per month. Compared with the fourth quarter of 2010, this figure rose to 205%.The greatest discovery of malicious programs into corporate computer systems were observed in September and October 2011 – 698 and 697 malicious programs, respectively. As noted in the report, Cisco, the number of unique malicious hosts that were discovered in 2011 was equal to 20.1 thousand per month. In comparison with data for 2010 – 14.2 – in this area on the rise. For the fourth quarter of 2011 on the internet 33% of all detected malware has been identified as a “malicious software zero-day” is not recognized by conventional antivirus solutions. The number of attacks, for which the attackers used SQL-injection, remained at the same level throughout the four quarters of 2011. The number of DoS-attacks increased slightly during the reporting period, but the level of spam sent worldwide dropped for 2011.
