Oracle has released an update for its Linux-distribution.

According to a press release on the official web-site Oracle, a new version of Linux-distribution company Oracle Unbreakable Linux. The new version of the kernel was based on Linux 3.0.16 and can be installed on Oracle Linux 5 or 6.

Among other things, the developers have implemented support for Btrfs file system, and new mechanisms of memory. Thus, the core of Oracle Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel 2 now supports the organization of larger blocks of memory that contribute to the acceleration of the system.

“Most of the innovations that have emerged in our core has been extracted from the kernel of the operating system Linux. After implementing all the changes in the code, the kernel has undergone rigorous testing, “- said vice-president of Oracle Linux Lenissen Sergio (Sergio Lenissen).

Other improvements include support for OS hypervisor Xen, as well as several new features that improve its performance. Technology containers similar to that contained in the operating system, Solaris.
