The number of Facebook users is rapidly approaching one billion – and this despite the fact that the site is blocked in China. Yesterday the company issued a correction to the shape of S1 in anticipation of a public offering. The new document provides fresh statistics for March 2012.
In March, Facebook reached 901 million people – the ones who went to the site at least once a month or for a specified period of time fixed by pressing the Like, and tracking cookies. Daily active audience in March amounted to 526 million people – many fixed tracking network Facebook daily. Around 500 million people a month use Facebook mobile application.
Every day, social network users leave 3.2 billion “Likes” and comments and published 300 million photos. The site recorded 125 billion “friendly relations” (on 31 December 2011 was 100 billion).
When Facebook filed an initial application for an IPO in February, the monthly audience of January stated in 845 million. Thus, we can estimate the growth of social networks: 56 million people in two months (6.6%). Perhaps, Facebook will cross one billion milestone before the end of the year: around August.
Of course, Facebook is now the world’s largest social network. In second place is Twitter, which in February stood at 500 million accounts (although, of which only 140 million are active users).
Other numbers: the company’s revenues in the I quarter. 2012 amounted to 1 billion $ 58 million, which is 6.5% lower than the previous quarter. So, each user has earned the company a little more than a dollar in the quarter. Advertising has brought $ 872 million profit, and other sources – $ 186 million.
The document also pointed out that Facebook has just purchased a package of 650 Microsoft patents at $550 million, which it recently bought AOL. Now Facebook has quite a strong defense of the more than 1,400 patents.
